PARIS, Jan 25, 2005/ FW/ --- Maurizio Galante has a singular style, which is inimitable. With the unveiling of his Spring-Summer 2005 haute couture collection, he showed just why that is true.
Beginning the show with a long dress that was wrapped and draped in the right places, the couturier then made a dramatic move in bringing forth an ensemble in silver with pencil-thin pants. Its top was translucent and off-the-shoulders.
In his denim couture, we saw what Maurizio is all about. His denim jean ensemble, decorated and embellished with crystals and beads, was absolutely bedazzling! Its theme is repeated in the form of a skirt ensemble. True that the beads and crystals are quite busy, yet they are in no way distracting.
His white ensemble is all lady elegance.
Galante’s coat-jacket is actually a rectangular, yet cut in the right places to create a jacket in all simplicity.
The couturier gave us all a spectacular hint of his love of tradition, technology and couture in the form of his long dress with low plunging open back. This fabric for the dress is actually cut by a single machine that only can be found in Switzerland and is the only one of its kind in the world. It actually replicates the “Senshi”, a delicate technique of creating fabrics which dates back to well over 1000 years. This technique was created by the Chinese and then subsequently made famous by the Japanese.
Galante’s dress in peach drew applause from the audience, setting the tone for the arrival of his last silhouette, a pants ensemble in peach in which in the pants rise to just below the ribcage. Its top is layered and moves with the grace of a gypsy moth.
