NEW YORK, Feb 12, 2006/ FW/ --- Last Sunday evening, at the Naheem Khan show, the New York social set occupied the front row. Though the photographers were disappointed that Beyoncé Knowles, who was rumored to make an appearance in the show, the ladies were not as Khan proposed 33 looks that were highly covetable and desirable.
It was mostly eveningwear, yet truly, if you are a lady of leisure, do you really have to wake up before 12:00 noon? Everything happens at night – dinner, the theater, the opera and movie premiers.
Khan’s opening number, a brown/silk taffeta cocktail dress with ¾ sleeves said it all! Svelte and slim, it’s for the sophisticated crowd.
The classical music that played on the background was perfect for the embroidered, beaded and skillfully cut dresses and gowns. Even the trench coats were glittery, like the navy blue/copper metallic brocade trench.
For a touch of romance, jabots and sunburst cake icing folds were used giving a romantic Victorian touch.
Black and platinum were the dominant colors, mysterious and sexy at the same time. The coup de grace was the finale, a brown silk taffeta strapless gown with metallic embroidered bodice and petal skirt. Now, what do you say to that?
