Pamella Roland NEW YORK, Feb 13, 2006/ FW/ --- Absolutely one of the most elegant and thought engaging shows of the week, Pamella Roland's collection was inspired by the painting Madame X by John Singer Sargent. This work of art embodies a timeless sensual femininity and Roland relived this piece through her clothing.

As the show began with a crème crepe suit dress covered with a rabbit skin coat, opulence set the tone of the show.

There is a particular woman in which Pamella is designing for within each piece of the collection. This woman is a lady of luxury and taste that goes over and beyond the American way of khaki skirts and acrylic sweaters.

The gowns and suit dresses stretched many facets of the female wardrobe. Luscious cashmeres on long coats and sheared long hair furs in a warm color palette were stellar.

The use of copper, moss green and dark and midnight ruby made a statement for night. All of the evening dresses were fitting for a red carpet.

Brocade and boucle jackets were well tailored in modern shapes. Roland's use of chocolate on cashmere suits was warm. A particular long sleeve chocolate gown was truly opulent with a striking sex appeal.

The stiff red lip models with up do's and curly locks wore the gowns well, but a more realistic body form could have made the collection come to life.

As a black cloak atop a long black dramatic dress ended show, one could have thought they were at the opera instead of a fashion show.
