DALLAS, Nov 24, 2004/ FW/ --- On my visits to Neiman Marcus, I have always noticed “Pamella Roland.” Sophisticated yet playful, forward thinking yet classic, the label is meant for today’s contemporary woman who juggles her time between her career and her home.
The clothes are for ‘go-getters,’ where an outfit can go from an office meeting, then attend a school play. Never risqué, but not conservative either, it is the perfect balance for a “go-anywhere” wardrobe.
So, last September in New York, when I saw “Pamella Roland” on the fashion calendar, I knew that it was a must see for me. I did not want to wait until March when the line reaches Neiman Marcus. I wanted to see what “Pamella Roland” had in store for its expanding client base.
I was expecting “Pamella Roland” to be a woman. So, it took me by surprise when I learned that it was actually a design duo – Pamella Devos and Ron Leal are the two designers behind the label.
Sending very wearable clothes on the runway, the kind that can easily go from the catwalk to the showroom, the whole collection was a parade of contemporary daywear interposed with cocktail dresses and gowns.
With black and white as the main color palette, Devos and Leal added sorbet yellow and blue, plus a few prints as complements.
The most memorable piece is the strapless cocktail dress in blue encrusted with Swarovski crystals designed to look like a sunburst.
Designed for a busy woman with a busy lifestyle, Pamella Roland hit it right on target with its no-fuss daywear.
For evening, women cannot go wrong with the soft flowing gowns that enhance the figure.
It was a very tight and focused collection overall. Ron Leal and Pamella Devos know their market and understand how to please them.
So, it’s really no wonder that they won the prestigious 48th Annual Gold Coast Fashion Award held Chicago last September 24, a week after their presentation in New York.
They won the Gold Coast Award for their Fall 2003 collection.
