DALLAS, Dec 11, 2006/ FW/ --- Trapeze coats, empire minis and cigarette pants, Peter Som created everything that every girl would just love to have! Sweet with a touch of sophistication, the San Francisco-born designer’s vision for Spring 2007 is a young lady who is a city dweller.
The shoulders were emphasized with the spaghetti strap mini that ballooned slightly after the waist and with the soft rounded shoulders of the coats. Three-quarter sleeves on short cropped blouses with square necks is reminiscent of the Jackie Kennedy era, but had been reworked for the modern day metro girl.
Slightly sheered skirts with functional side pockets are perfect for the high-tech lifestyle wherein an iPod, a mobile phone or a Blackberry is a must-have. Wide-legged walking shorts that could be worn at work or at play complete the daywear.
Still, it’s Peter Som’s vision of eveningwear that would just make the young debutantes mouth to water. Empire cocktail dresses and gown adorned with a sash or long ribbon presents a perfect balance between innocence and sophistication.
And like in the classic movie, ‘The Sound of Music,’ the girl might only be sixteen going on seventeen, but she already has a long list of ‘favorite things’ that she wants to add to her wardrobe when Spring 2007 rolls around.
