Tom Ford NEW YORK, Nov 4, 2005/ FW/ --- Tom Ford is definitely back and he is stronger than ever as the launch of Tom Ford Estée Lauder Collection drew record breaking crowd at Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York.

Yesterday, with a crowd of over 1000, the biggest for a fragrance launch experienced at Saks Fifth Avenue, customers lined up to purchase the limited quantities of make-up and fragrance especially designed by Tom Ford for the cosmetics giant.

With reports of strong sales all over the country and the shelves for the Tom Ford Estée Lauder Collection virtually empty, it’s obvious from the word ‘go’ that the renowned designer’s comeback vehicle is a success.

"I am thrilled with the consumer response to this collection," said Tom Ford in a statement.

Tom Ford "With these fragrance and makeup products, I've taken Estée Lauder's existing vocabulary and tried to reduce it to its purest, most iconic form, making it fresh, modern and contemporary. My goal was to take Estée Lauder's glamour, history, quality and spirit, and create a collection for today," he added.

As announced last April, Tom Ford was commissioned to re-interpret select iconic Estée Lauder products including its famous Youth Dew fragrance and the brand’s original fluted makeup packaging.

Especially created for the 2005 holiday season, this limited edition fragrance and makeup sets will only be available on store shelves for only a certain number of days. With Aerin Lauder and Estée Lauder spokesmodel Carolyn Murphy present, Tom Ford signed Youth Dew Amber Nude fragrance bottles at the launch.

Tom Ford The Tom Ford Estée Lauder Collection consists of the initial line up of 13 featured items that include the new Youth Dew Amber Nude Fragrance Collection and the new Amber Nude Limited Edition Makeup Collection of lipsticks and compacts in sophisticated nude shades.

Carolyn Murphy is featured in the sensual advertising as a reclining nude reminiscent of the nude in the original Youth Dew advertising from 1953.

"We knew this collection would be a huge success," said John Demsey, Global Brand President, Estée Lauder in a statement.

"Tom has the extraordinary capability of reinterpreting and expressing ideas in a totally new and modern way. He was the perfect choice to mine the DNA and heritage of the Estée Lauder brand," Demsey added.

And for those who like fashion trivia, every fragrance launched by Estée Lauder since its inception in 1946 has debuted at Saks Fifth Avenue's New York City flagship. And from the looks of it, there will be more to come.
