NEW YORK, Jun 11, 2012/ — In 1980, Terry Fox, who was suffering from cancer and with one leg having been amputated, embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research.

Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and 5,373 kilometers (3,339 mi), and ultimately cost him his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy.

During that whole run, Terry Fox wore the adidas Orion as his running shoes. Honoring that legacy, adidas has reproduced the Orion and launching it as Orion 2.

On June 15, Orion 2 reaches store shelves and will retail at City Gears as well as several boutique locations for $58.00.

Today’s Orion 2 emulates the classic silhouette with an imitation suede, nylon upper and rubber outsole. The Orion 2 is also available in leather.
