My collection is about how our dependency on technology, myself included, has created a generation of people who do not have good posture. Instead of fitting them into clothes meant for those with great posture this collection is meant to cater to their needs. Incorporates neoprene with 3d airmesh (a material used to cushion athletic shoes), silk woven to create stretch without any other fibers, stretch vinyl.

My thesis is based on winter snow in the city. Born during the cold snowy winter in China, I loved how each winter morning my mother would dress me in layers of clothes to protect me from the cold weather. Now living in New York City, away from my mother, the contrast between the cold weather and the coziness when being wrapped with clothes reminds me of my nostalgic childhood memory. With this strong emotion, I created this collection and hope to share the safe and secure feeling when we are protected through clothing.

My inspiration comes from the French New Wave movie “Hiroshima, Mon Amour.” This black and white film is a narrative about a couple dealing with the sadness and their memories of the Hiroshima bombings.
