Jan 17, 2004/ FW/ --- Fans of The Beatles will get their big "Ticket to Ride" this year thanks to Seattle's landmark waterfront hotel, The Edgewater, which will commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the historic Beatles' stay at the hotel on August 21, 1964.

The Edgewater has scheduled a year-long "Fab Four-Oh! at The Edgewater" celebration featuring more than 20 Beatles-related events, promotions and activities taking place at the hotel and Six Seven Restaurant and Lounge.

"The Beatles' stay at The Edgewater is a major part of Seattle's history," noted Karl Kruger, general manager of The Edgewater. "We can't wait to relive the experience with our fellow Seattleites and our guests for the next 12 months. All those screaming fans can celebrate with us and take a day, a week or a year-long trip down memory lane."

In addition to numerous events and activities - such as a "Taxman" celebration for CPAs on April 16 and "Paperback Writer" book signing events with noted authors - hotel staff will be outfitted with Sgt. Pepper uniforms.

And a Beatles- themed bar menu at Six Seven Restaurant and Lounge will accompany the hotel's own live Octopus' Garden.

In 1964, the Beatles were guests of The Edgewater Hotel when they visited Seattle as part of their first world tour. Seattle was the third concert date of that world-famous swing, and the city went wild.

Fear of crazed fans and riots caused every other hotel in the city to turn the Fab Four away, except The Edgewater.

A cyclone fence was installed to keep John, Paul, George and Ringo safe and fans away. But that didn't stop frenzied fans from trying to steal a look and get an autograph from England's newest rock sensation.

The stories surrounding the Fab Four's stay at The Edgewater are numerous and intriguing.

The "Fab Four-Oh! at the Edgewater" features monthly events, starting with Beatles Night on January 23 in the Six Seven Lounge. Other events will include charity galas, The Fab Four-Oh! Rock and Roll 5K Roadrace and a Yellow Submarine Fishing Derby.
