NEW YORK, Nov 29, 2001/ FW/ --- Comedian Ellen DeGeneres has agreed to put her version of the swan
dress on the block for charity.
At the Emmys earlier this month, host DeGeneres donned an imitation of the infamous swan dress
Icelandic pop princess Bjork wore to the Oscars.
DeGeneres told the star-studded audience that she had planned to wear the swan dress at the
original Emmy telecast in September, which was cancelled following the terrorist attacks:
"Everyone knows that it's fine to wear a swan in September. But after September,
I don't know."
Other celebrities who have donated items for the auction, which supports The Women's Alliance,
include Cameron Diaz, Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore, Meg Ryan, Faith Hill,
Leonardo di Caprio and the Duchess of York.
The Women's Alliance and its affiliates have helped more than 100,000 low-income women prepare
for the transition from welfare to work by providing the trainging, professional clothing and
the confidence they need to succeed.
The Women's Alliance Celebrity Suit Auction is being conducted online by uBid.com, and runs
through December 21.
