LOS ANGELES, Feb 19, 2002/ FW/ --- Oscar and Grammy winning superstar Cher has created a video tribute of her new hit single Song For The Lonely which she dedicated to "the courageous people of New York."

Song For The Lonely was recorded before September 11th, but took on profound and even more significant meaning in the tragedy's aftermath.

"People have told me that it helped them cope with the after-effects of the attack. There's no greater compliment than that," stated Cher.

Cher's anthematic voice and unstoppable stride take us through the creation of the city of cities.

Her video love letter to the people of New York currently airing on VH-1 was directed by The Orphanage and was created as a tribute to the creation and accomplishments of New York City.

Cher's new CD Living Proof -- in stores on February 26th -- follows her four times platinum and Grammy winning smash album Believe and a music, TV, Broadway and film career that has spanned over four phenomenal decades.

The new CD is a continuation of her extraordinarily successful leap into dance music.
