DALLAS, Aug 6, 2002/ FW/ --- August 16th marks the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death -- and today,
Elvis not only remains popular -- his influence is everywhere.
Whether it's at the movies -- Disney's recent release Lilo &
Stitch features seven Elvis songs -- on the radio -- the remix of Elvis'
A Little Less Conversation is topping international charts -- or among
pop icons -- Britney and Cher both recently performed in Elvis fashions, the
King of Rock 'n' Roll is back. Peter Guralnick, Elvis biographer and music
historian, is a contributing editor to a new Bookazine -- Elvis, Then and
Now.
Elvis' appeal was unique, it was based on a democratic
vision, and the ability to communicate each song as if he had lived every word
of it.
Elvis, Then and Now also includes a bonus CD with newly remastered
versions of Heartbreak Hotel and the rare, In The Ghetto. It's
available on newsstands now and is the only official commemorative bookazine
authorized by Graceland.
