'Rocktoberfest' 1950's Rock 'N' Roll Festival Features #1 Recording Artists

LOS ANGELES, Jul 31, 2002/ FW/ --- #1 Billboard Chart recording artists The Coasters, The Drifters,
The Shirelles, and Frankie "Sea Cruise" Ford will headline Rocktoberfest, a nostalgic trip
through the 1950's era of Rock 'N' Roll. Music legend Big Bopper Jr. and
internationally known music historian Bill Griggs will be masters of ceremony
for the three-day-long music festival, October 10-12, 2002.
Frankie "Sea Cruise" Ford is best known for #1 hits: "Sea Cruise", "Ooh-Wee
Baby", and "You Talk Too Much". The Shirelles featuring Shirley Alston Reeves
has been inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame and is the remaining
original member of the group. Their #1 smash hits include: "Dedicated to the One
I Love", "Will You Still Love me Tomorrow?", "Soldier Boy", "Mama Said", and
"Baby, it's You". The Drifters (Charlie Thomas has been inducted into the Rock
'N' Roll Hall of Fame and is the remaining original member of the group. Their
#1 hits include "There Goes My Baby", "This Magic Moment", "Save the Last Dance
for Me", "Up on the Roof", "On Broadway", and "Under the Boardwalk")

"Rocktoberfest producer, Michael Franklin is a wizard at assembling the best
entertainers in the industry," said Linda Fort, Vice President and General
Manager. "This city wide event has all the potential to become one of the
largest annual events Palm Springs offers."
The line up of #1 recording artists slated to appear will also include: Tommy
Roe with hits "Sheila" and "Sweet Pea", Chris Montez best known for "Some Kinda
Fun" and "La Bamba" and The Crystals for 1950's era anthems "Da Doo Ron Ron" and
"Then He Kissed Me".
Rocktoberfest is sponsored by: The City of Palm Springs, Morris Desert Media,
Musicians Outlet, KESQ-TV, and the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism.
