David Letterman is #2 on TV’s Top Ten List
Oprah Winfrey is #1
DALLAS, Dec 26, 2003/ FW/ --- He’s best known for his Top Ten List. And this time, he is on it, filling in the #2 slot.
The result of the Harris Poll for America’s Favorite TV Personalities, which was released day before Christmas listed Oprah Winfrey as the top TV personality for 2003, the same position that she held last year.
In fact, in the eleven years that Harris Interactive has conducted this survey, Oprah has always been one of the top-three favorites. This is the fourth time she has been number one; she also topped the list in 1998, 2000 and 2002.
David Letterman who achieved his best-ever ranking last year at #3, moves up to #2.
But his rise is relatively gradual compared to that of Bill O'Reilly of Fox News, who came onto the list for the first time in 2001 at #7, rose to #5 last year and jumps up to #3 now.
Oprah Winfrey is tops with women, with whites and blacks, David Letterman is #1 among men. Among viewers ages 18-29, the choice is different; Jon Stewart, Jennifer Aniston, Conan O'Brien and Homer Simpson all share first place.
The three people who dropped off the list this year are all involved in news programs: Katie Couric (#4 in 2002), Tom Brokaw (was #8) and Dan Rather (was #10).
