LOS ANGELES, Jul 31, 2003/ FW/ --- Its official! 'Joey' starring Matt LeBlanc is coming to
NBC on Fall 2004, as 'Friends' spin off.
NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker made the announcement last July 24 at the Television
Critics' Association meeting in Los Angeles.

Matt LeBlanc will continue to play his Emmy-nomiated 'Friends' character 'Joey Tribbiani' in
the new 30-minute sitcom 'Joey' which will occupy the same time slot that 'Friends' currently
occupy.
Details of the show is still sketchy. But one thing is sure, only 'Joey' will be returning,
and his 'Friends' will not join him.
USA Today reported that 'Joey Tribbiani' will leave New York (the locale of Friends) and
move to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.
This decision makes sense. It will separate 'Joey' from 'Friends', same thing as when
'Frasier' was spun off from 'Cheers,' Frasier moved from the East Coast to the Pacific Northwest
(Seattle).
Making Los Angeles as the new locale for 'Joey' will give the creative team
(executive producers Kevin Bright, Scott Silveri and Shana Goldberg-Meehan),
a lot of room to expand on Joey's character.
Financial terms of Matt LeBlanc's contract were not disclosed, though it was announced that
as part of the deal, LeBlanc has committed to two movies for Warner Brothers.
