Jan 7, 2004/ FW/ --- Three urban bachelors are about to discover they each have babies on the
way. And dirty diapers aren't the only rough changes they're going to have to make. That's
Bai Ling's latest movie, "My Baby's Daddy" is all about in a nutshell.
With the slapstick High jinks of Eddie Griffin, Anthony Anderson and Michael
Imperioli, "My Baby's Daddy", is a hair-raising, baby-raising comedy for the
hip-hop generation.
Actress Bai Ling who plays, Anderson's girlfriend in the
movie, says being on the set with the trio was a blast.
"I think they were having parties when we were shooting. And they were having a
great time joking around. They were never serious until the camera rolls. It's
still funny, you know. But they just switch their lives to the character," Bai Ling said.
"Ah, they're constantly just having party, having great time making everybody laugh.
And I feel like during this whole shooting it was like we were having party
everyday. It was really fun," she added.
Born in China on October 10, 1970, Bai Ling's name translates to "White Spirit" in English.
She began her stage career during her enlistment in the People's Liberation Army, where she
served as an entertainer, singing and dancing for the troops.
Her first big break was in 1988 when she starred in "Hu Guang." She was 21 when she first
came to the U.S. in 1991 to study New York University's Department of Film.
Three years later, she landed her first Hollywood role in "The Crow" starring Brandon Lee
who died in an accident while filming the movie.
She entered the American filmgoers psyche when she starred with Richard Gere in "Red Corner,"
who played an American lawyer accussed of murder. Bai Ling played the court-appointed attorney
defending Jack Moore (Gere's character).
With a very unflattering depiction of China's court system, and a very quiet yet powerful
performance by Bai Ling, the actress found her contracts canceled to appear in a pair of
Chinese films, and Chinese officials revoked her passport shortly afterward.
Bai Ling stayed in the U.S., and was granted U.S. citizenship in 1999.
Other film credits for Bai Ling includes Wild Wild West, Anna & the King, The Breed and
Code Hunter.
Bai Ling can also been seen in the upcoming movies, "Sky Captain," and "Star
Wars: Episode Three," due out in 2005.
