DALLAS, Apr 10, 2004/ FW/ --- First there was the X-Men, then Spiderman and the Hulk, and now... Hellboy. Based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, Hellboy continues the trend of bringing comic book superheroes to life on the movie screen.

The supernatural-action adventure stars Ron Perlman as Hellboy and Selma Blair as the pyro-kinetic, Liz Sherman.

Already having experience playing a beast in the 1980's series, Beauty and the Beast, Ron Perlman tells us what it was like to play a beast of another kind, Hellboy.

“You don't always get a superhero that's as much of an under achiever and as much of a delicious guys guy to hang out with. Who like to drink beer and smoke cigars and eat really bad food, you know that's kind of unique. And the personality of this guy is what sets him apart from the young, earnest, square jawed, guys who have no sense of humor who are you know basically instruments of pure good. This guys on the fence,” says Ron Perlman.

The beautiful Selma Blair who played a law student the comedy “Legally Blonde” tackles an entirely different role in Hellboy.

“Hellboy is about a demon baby raised for good taken into the paranormal research department of the United States FBI, where he meets Liz Sherman, firestarter who is there under tragic circumstances, and he falls in love with her, and he goes out and fights the forces of evil everyday,” comments Selma Blair about the movie.

“I think anyone who sees this movie will not be disappointed. It was, you know I just wish all the success for it and its’ filmmakers, it was a true labor of love,” Blair concluded.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the movie also stars Doug Jones as the telepathic Mer-man, Abe Sapien.
