International Festival

BRANSON, MO, Apr 8, 2005/ MF/ --- A different kind of foreign policy is on the agenda for representatives of 14 countries gathering at this year’s World-Fest in Branson, MO.

The annual celebration at Silver Dollar City theme park brings together more than 200 entertainers from five continents for what is being billed as “America’s Largest International Festival.” World-Fest runs from April 7 through May 15.

“Whether it’s folk dancers from the Philippines, a brass band from Russia or acrobats from Kenya, these people love to entertain,” says Rex Burdette, Silver Dollar City’s World-Fest coordinator for 11 years.

“And World-Fest brings in varieties of performance arts that most Americans have never seen before, performed by those who are among the best in their countries.”

Everything from popular Irish music and dance to the more obscure folkloric sport of Italian flag throwing is on display.

Several groups are appearing at World-Fest for the first time, including Germany’s high-flying Zebra Stilentheater stilt jumpers, the Czech Republic’ Bulka Band brass quartet and Voz de Honduras.

The popular Kenya Safari Acrobats are also slated for evening engagements throughout the entire festival.

Those looking to stick to their diets should beware, since the temptation to eat is always present.

A wide variety of international dishes and desserts are available, including Jamaican jerk chicken, Greek pies and Italian tiramisu.

Each evening is highlighted by a special ceremony. Guests and performers gather together to dance a traditional tarantella of peace and goodwill.

Information on the festival, schedules and tickets is available at www.silverdollarcity
