At The Emmy Awards: Kiefer Sutherland Wins Best Actor For 24; HBO Is The Big Winner with 26 Trophies

LOS ANGELES, Aug 28, 2006/ FW/ --- Finally, Kiefer Sutherland has the much-coveted and well-deserved Emmy. The 40-year old actor who plays counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer in Fox’s ‘24’ was named Best Actor for A Drama Series at last night’s Emmy Awards.
Sutherland, who already has a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series, accepted the well-deserved Emmy saying “Every once in a while you'll have an evening that just reminds you that you're given too much, and this is that evening. This experience that has been `24' has been nothing short of remarkable for me.”

Mariska Hargitay for ‘Law & order: Special Victims Unit’ - Best Actress in a Drama Series
Andre Braugher for ‘Thief’ – Best Actor in a Miniseries or Movie
Helen Mirren for ‘Elizabeth I’ - Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie
Tony Shalhoub for ‘Monk’ – Best Actor in a Comedy Series
Julia Louis-Dreyfus for ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’ – Best Actress in a Comedy Series
In addition to Emmys in 27 categories announced last night, Emmys in 68 other categories and areas for programs and individual achievements were presented at the Creative Arts Awards on August 19, 2006 from the Shrine Auditorium.
For the networks, the big winner is HBO with 26 wins, followed by NBC with 14, ABC (11), Fox (10) and CBS bringing home 9 trophies.
