Fashion Wins At The 64th Golden Globe Awards As Meryl Streep Takes Home A Statuette

LOS ANGELES, Jan 16, 2007/ FW/ --- Fictional fashion editore Miranda Priestly as played by Meryl Street got her revenge once again as the multi-award winning actress took a Best Actress Golden Globe statuette for her performance in the comedy motion picture ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’
The movie, which rocked the fashion world, had three nominations – Best Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy; Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, for Emily Blunt’s performance as Emily.
That the awards happened during the beginning of the Fall 2007 fashion season and the eve of the Spring 2007 Haute Couture season, haute couture being the ‘season’ featured in the movie itself bodes well for the fashion industry in general.
Meryl Streep’s win is also a win for haute couture, which is also staging its own revival, with a 4-day season for Spring 2007, wherein for the past several years, it was only 3 days.
