DALLAS, Jun 23, 2004/ FW/ --- Karl Lagerfeld, one of the most prolific designers of our times has teamed up with Swedish clothing company H&M to come up with a one-time “Karl Lagerfeld for H&M” collection scheduled to hit stores in early Fall 2004.
Karl Lagerfeld will create a collection of approximately 30 designs, which will be produced and distributed exclusively by H&M. This one-time collection is expected to be one of the hottest items to hit H&M store shelves known for offering fashion and quality at the best price.
For H&M fans, this is a chance to own something designed by couturier Karl Lagerfeld, who is the current designer for Chanel, Fendi and his eponymous line Lagerfeld Gallery.
Considered one of the pillars of the fashion world, Lagerfeld who is already a sexagenarian do not show any signs of slowing down. In fact, he seems to possess eternal youth as he continues to create fashion that is coveted by women from 15 to 85.
Known for designing luxury items for the venerable Paris fashion house Chanel and the famed Rome-based Fendi, the idea of Karl Lagerfeld designing clothes that will be mass produced and distributed in the mass market channel is staggering.
Yet, unpredictability is one of Karl Lagerfeld’s greatest strength. Last March, he surprised the fashion world by sending male models on the Chanel runway, something that has never been done before. There was a 2-second initial shock and then applause for a groundbreaking move in the most respected French fashion house.
So, teaming up with H&M to create this one-time only collection, though totally unexpected is so Karl Lagerfeld whose continuous quest for breaking new grounds in fashion seems insatiable.
"We both had the same idea independently. I've been fascinated by what they do for a long time, and they were apparently interested in what I represent," said Karl Lagerfeld in a statement, explaining his reason for the collaboration with H&M.
Further details on the collection and its availability will be released in early Fall 2004 according to the announcement by H&M.
