Andrew Gn PARIS, Mar 2, 2004/ FW/ ---- Andrew GN has triumphed once again in Paris with a fall-winter collection that was nothing short of an exercise in style, quality and grace embedded in the spirit of Hollywood glamour for today’s modern woman.

The designer delighted his audience of top fashion journalists, buyers, and well wishers with a beautiful collection that can only be described as “divine”.

Opening the show with a mink trimmed tweed coat with leather and jet "appliqué flowers", Andrew GN immediately set the tone for a collection rich in depth and refinement.

Little bows or bouclés are present throughout the collections. They are the best expression of the collection’s simple elegance, inextricably linked with the collection’s overall frosty sexy appeal.

Let it be known that never in the history of fashion has one designer done so much with one skirt pattern. It may be true to say that the "bouclé" skirts featured throughout the collection were cut from the same pattern.

However, Andrew GN wasted no time in establishing how women could ostentatiously possess the same garment and wear it so differently. Thanks to his skilled eye, one never gets the impression of having fallen into the repetitious.

Each look seemed to raise the bar of elegance a bit higher than the previous one. The collection featured an array of well-sculpted tailleurs and coats. The fabrics ranged from cashmere, gabardine and tweeds to mohair, mink, sequins and intricate embroideries. His cuts were flawless and the materials well chosen. The embroideries were exquisite.

The black cashmere sweater worn with a black cashmere "bouclé skirt" represents the shear elegance of the collections. The bouclé tailleur with sequined passementerie and frayed trim is certainly one of the biggest eye-catchers. However, it is the red and white cashmere tweed jacket with self-yarn passementerie and bows that stole the show!

His black patent leather paillette drop waist dress was gorgeous and added to the expectation of the next looks. The black leather sequins and paillette fringed skirt and the beautiful black embroidered coat which then followed were triumphs.

The only true complaints one could make about this collection are the unimaginative use of the gorgeous fur and the uselessness of his pants.

The white mink collars gave a distinctly Mother Christmas look to some of his well-tailored jackets. Why use mink in such way when the collection stands out alone on its own without it? And although his wide-legged pants are beautiful, the collection really could have done without them as they seemed to lack something, but only when compared to the rest of the collection.

In this collection, Andrew GN never gave us an up-in-your-face kind of sexiness. The collection, though, was of a different kind of sex appeal. His mermaid dresses in white and silver satin are put together with great mastery. They show off a woman's natural physical beauty while still leaving much to the imagination.

It is a pity that the Oscars took place before this show fore many of Hollywood’s actresses would have found pleasure in wearing these dresses to that red carpet affair!!!
