Paris Pręt-á-Porter Fall 2006
By: Mari Davis

Andrew Gn PARIS, Mar 1, 2006/ FW/ --- Andrew Gn always excels in his fall / winter collections, and this one is not an exception, sending 45 pieces on the runway that spotlighted the designer’s opulent looks that are rich in details.

Opening with a mohair and lace-embroidered baby camel hair coat with a fox collar, Andrew Gn set the tone of his collection, a dark modern romantic silhouettes with baroque references.

Trousers were cut slim, and jackets though relaxed fitting followed the slender silhouettes, which is the main trend this season. But, Andrew Gn went beyond simple pręt-a-porter by adding couture elements like fur collars and 3-D jet bows inspired by 18th century jewelry.

Suits were embellished with chinchilla cuffs while embroidery were added on the blouses. Chandelier beading was also used, seen in both daywear and eveningwear, making ornamentation a big part of the looks.

Playing with volume and texture, Andrew Gn mixed fabrics, like leather in lace seen in a mohair embroidered silk lace coat with organdy insert and leather cummerbund. Pleats, gores and godets were used to give skirts and dresses some flare, while ruffles, jabot and silk flowers gave a romantic look.

Wearable with a unique aesthetics, Andrew Gn continues to gain fans all over the world, the latest in Scotland where specialty boutiques have started stocking his collection.
