PARIS, Oct 14, 2002/ FW/ --- Andrew G.N's runway show last Tuesday at the Louvre was a trip
down memory lane.
His show notes said, "My S/S 2003 collection takes a fashion voyage through Southeast Asia.
For me it also represents a personal journey."
"For the first time since launching my label in 1996, I explore the rich fashion heritage
of my homeland."
"Growing up in Singapore, my father traveled extensively throughout the region, always
bringing back exotic textile treasures."
"I'm not only looking East this season, but also back to the swinging Sixties. Thre free
spirit of California, the energy of the Rolling Stones and a whiff of Carnaby Street are all
references in this collection, too."
So with 'California Dreamin' as the soundtrack, Andrew G.N sent a collection that started
auspiciously great at first.
Exotic prints were sent on the runway, with black in between them to break the monotony.
But it became repeatitive and unfocused as the show went on.
The prints became to busy, and the colors turned hallucigenic.
It slowly became an acid trip by the Rolling Stones.
Which is a pity because it could have been a great collection with the proper editing and
proper order of the clothes.
Where is RandM and Kevin Krier when you need them? They could have given their show producing
expertise with this collection.
