MILAN, Mar 9, 2005/ FW/ --- In fashion there will always be drama and not always good or bad, but simply drama. Marras gave us a highly dramatic performance with this collection that consisted of Dutch meets army girls meet Fantasia.
Gothic and edgy were some basic inspirations. Dresses and gowns were elaborately decorated in embroidery, appliqué, sequins and beading.
Though many chiffon feminine gowns were presented, they were styled in a masculine way with army coats and fatigue pants also adoring extensive ornamentations. The see-though chiffon frocks were hand beaded often styled with trousers underneath which definitely took away from its natural elegance.
Green army coats and fatigue camouflage trousers were seen during the first part of the collection along with Dutch peasant floor length skirts with multi layers of ruffles. Heavy materials of velvet and worsted cotton were detailed on these skirts.
Rose and floral printed blazers were styled with army camouflage trousers. To gather a more masculine affect, models sported shirts and ties underneath.
Grand coats with velvet and leopard print trimmings were heavy yet fashionable. The collection progressed to showing denim and midnight blues. This portion of the show was very wearable with stylized denim jackets with appliqué along with simple thick cuff dark denim jeans.
Striped turtle were at the bottom of the layered looks. Simple almost flat kitten heeled round toe pumps matched most looks.
The show went back Gothic showing veils and more black with roses as broaches and hairpieces. The show ended more dramatically as the models sat in a picture perfect position upon the theatrical set.
