MILAN, Jun 24, 2003/ FW/--- In an extract from DH Lawrence, Antonio Marras recalls
the innocence of travel, discovery and new meetings. The perfumes and colours
of Sardegna, the year, early 1900s.
On a cruise ship inside the museum of Science and Technology in Milan, piano
music blared from four gramophones, rolling sea sounds echoeing as models
weaved in and out of onlookers, went up and down stairs and paraded onto
the main deck.
Jackets without sleeves are camouflaged as vests and pinstripes, floral and
polka dots appear on shirts and jackets.
The little sailor boy in all his
charm and glory, equipped with, horizontal stripes, sailor hat, plastic sandals
and socks, almost naive in the simplicity and comfort that Marras gives his
2004 spring summer man.
Assymetrical, his trade mark with visible stitching accentuating the differences
but never lacking style.
Wide legged trousers that either finish at the
ankle or have buckles to tie them close to the calf teamed with jackets with
small shoulders.
Pants with visible zippers and long baggy crutches makes
for suave comfortable style as do overalls and elastic waistbands.
Double breasted marine style trenches and the perfect impeccable white shirt
under tailored oversize suits that have contrasting finishes on the cuffs.
Colours range from hints of green and yellow with white, burgundy, blue
and ecru in a mix of odours and light, the collection is dateless.
