Antonio Miro PARIS, Jul 6, 2004/ FW/ --- Last Sunday, on a cloudy Paris day, Antonio Miro (see photo at left) brought sunshine to the City of Lights with his Spring 2005 collection that brought the audience through beaches and deserts with hues of colors emulating sunsets, conveying a spirit of serenity and comfort.

The Barcelona-based designer who is also well known for his innovative work on fabric introduced a new textile this season, a mixture of silk and cotton, making it an easy to –wear-light cloth, that also “breathes” resulting to a comfortable material to wear during the hot summer days that can also be humid.

The Antonio Miro gentleman will not just be ‘comfortable’ next summer, he will also be on cutting edge of fashion with his hip hugging pants and jeans and easy going shirts.

Stressed leather, washed off linen and cotton are used to give the collection an antique yet contemporary look. It’s new yet very familiar, as Antonio Miro used embroideries and prints applied on more typical summer fabrics such as cotton and silk, while graphic combinations on t-shirts and vivid colors are set on shirting.

“It’s a futuristic look based on the past,” explained the designer on the hyper-modern silhouette intermixed with traditional detailing such as needlework and stitching.

Portholes are the graphic of choice, appearing as pockets on outerwear garments and jackets. It’s most innovative use is on the cut-off flight suits in sorbet colors, embellished with portholes in front and back. At the end of the runway, the models took them off, revealing swimsuits inside. The cut off flight suits are the men’s equivalent of a wrap!

Trust Antonio Miro to think of practical garments like this that create an image of uniqueness and fashion-forward attitude for the man of today and tomorrow.
