PARIS, Oct 11, 2003/ FW/ --- It was another strong showing for designer Atsuro Tayama who delighted the press and buyers last season for his college coed garments.
For Spring / Summer 2004, the designer opted to highlight the urban club culture with his colorful collection that featured stripes and color blocks, extra long and extra wide neckties and blouson tops.
It’s really too bad that his show was right before John Galliano, who was showing next door at the avenue de Wagram. People were already lining up for the John Galliano show even before Tayama’s show started.
Those who spent 30 minutes in line to see John Galliano really missed a beautiful runway presentation by Atsuro Tayama who wowed his audience with a very modern collection poised to get a cult following.
Models wore matching pants and jackets adorned with extra long and extra wide neckties.
Dresses featured either paisley prints or color blocks in geometrical shapes that remind you of Lego pieces.
The clothes were very contemporary and covered almost every aspect of a modern woman’s life – work, lunch, dinner and a night out of town.
Atsuro Tayama’s market remains to be the woman who is not a wilting violet and not afraid to experiment. And this season, this woman has a lot to choose from the Spring / Summer 2004 collection.
