Bernhard Willhelm PARIS, Jan 29, 2006/ FW/ --- It’s hard enough to walk on the catwalk, but if you have to be a living mannequin with at least 300 people including photographers ogling at your clothes for at least 15 minutes, the job becomes harder.

And that’s the gist of the Bernhard Willhelm presentation today with 28 male living mannequins striking a pose in gigantic picture frames wearing the German designer’s Fall 2006 menswear collection.

Entitled ‘Light Blue Trash Club 2007’ Bernhard Willhelm touched on every subject on the title. With ‘trash’ he used recycled chicken wire and frames as backdrops for his models.

Blue is obviously a color that was used predominantly in the collection, while ‘light & club’ were more figurative in their rendition.

Perhaps it’s the oversized tie-dyed t-shirts that were embellished with braids that encircled the sun burst tie-dye of the shirt was meant to signify ‘light.’

For ‘club,’ about 60% of the collection are targeted for the ‘club culture’ especially the young hip hop crowd wherein Willhelm created oversized shorts with Grecian icons and knitted pants flaring on the hemline to look like bell bottoms.

The knitted pants might not fare well with mainstream customers, but the cable knit sweaters and green & blue print knits will actually sell very well to the more conservative crowd.

Trousers and bomber jackets in Prince of Wales checks will also do very well at the cash registers. So does the ‘sleeping bag’ coats, which are actually hooded down-filled oversized jackets reaching mid-calf that zips at the front.

The clothes might be striking and out of the ordinary, yet Willhelm’s best work this season is on the sneakers! With so many different ways to tie the shoes, plus the variety of designs that the sneakers were presented, it would do very well from 14 to 40 age-group.
