Girly Girls at Cacharel

PARIS, Mar 10, 2003/ FW/ --- As the Paris heats up and war talks in Washington become serious,
watching the Cacharel show last Saturday brings back optimism in our hearts.
Husband and wife team Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro showed flower and heart prints
on a pink stage, as if saying, 'All we need is love.'
But it was not a political statement. It was about being a girl - from the school girl who
loves to dress up to the one who 'Oh, I just put this together last minute' and still look
devastatingly beautiful.
The designers partly revived the flower power movement with their floral skirts, tops
and dresses.
To say that the collection was inspired by this era is only partly true. The true inspiration
is 'the girl who is almost a woman.'
Notable are the stockings and leggings with heart prints. This will be a hit among the teens
this fall.
The pink cowboy boots will be a fad. And hats are back, from the beret to the kangol.
Rumors are circulating that Clements Ribeiro will be leaving Cacharel soon. If it is true,
it will be a sad day because they have brought the label into a higher level of chicness
while keeping the history of the House.
Clements Ribeiro's run at Cacharel will be literally short and sweet if the whisperings are true.
Let us hope that they will stay for several more seasons.
