NEW YORK, Feb 7, 2005/ FW/ – Herrera’s key to elegance is simplicity, inspired for fall winter 2005/06 by the dramatic shapes of the 1940’s, she takes an idea and transforms it into a tight, neat collection of timeless sophistication.
Herrera’s luxury comes not only from cuts and sartorial detail, but also in her choice of fabrics, softening and modernizing the silhouette with delicious fur, tweeds, silk flannel and cashmere.
The upper body is accentuated, waists are small and delicate as tailored Prince of Wales jackets with chinchilla collars sit on hips and fluted skirts hug the figure to the knee narrowing hips.
Offering a series of separates for daywear divine, Herrera being accurate to 1940’s necessities, when the Couture capital of Paris was closed off to the rest of the world by the Nazi’s and New York designers had to then invent new ways of dressing, concentrated on separates in order to create the illusion of having more looks.
With femininity taking over from masculine aggressive sexy, Herrera offers feminine sensuality of opulence and grace. In a romantic and light filled rich color palette from raspberry and violet to blues and shimmering grays.
Evenings are smart and stylish. Semi precious stones are worked into fabrics and shimmer in the light while full-length class is uncomplicated and fit for any international red carpet event.
Glamour is knee length and more sensual than ever, leaving the imagination to wander around the refined classical lady that Herrera creates.
