NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2006/ FW/ --- Sophisticated and classic pieces for women who bring their own style to their wardrobe, Carolina Herrera proposes 40 looks that are timeless as they are beautiful.
Using very soft luxe fabrics in linen, lance, organza, jersey, chiffon, wool gabardine and taffeta among others, Herrera kept a very controlled color palette of blood orange, shell, rouge, chalk and black, exercising a very sure hand on the collection.
With both floral and graphic prints, the New York-based designer also kept a tight control on the season’s exuberance, opting for blush shades and sepia tones instead of the vivid colors of spring.
Giving a nod to the ‘eyelet’ craze that has swept the tents since the first day of the season, Carolina Herrera gave it her own twist. Instead of embroidery, Herrera used laser cutting to create the perfect sunburst shapes.
Daywear consists of shift dresses, spaghetti-strap sundresses and trumpet skirts divided into gores and godets, superbly styled and cut that sometimes they can actually be worn as a cocktail dress.
And though this season, Carolina Herrera did not break new grounds in fashion, the superb tailoring, impeccable styling and simply beautiful details are more than enough to makes this collection one of the highlights of the New York season.
