DALLAS, May 4, 2007/ FW/ --- Known for his rock & roll attitude with treatment of pop icons, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac proposes that all of us go skiing next winter with two sage advise: ‘Accessory hunters need to find their prey’ and ‘Abuse of holidays causes a rare addiction.’
A tongue-in-cheek approach for a military inspired collection wherein men wore orange camouflage suits and grey and green camouflage ski gear.
For women, après ski is a time to show their oversized sweaters done in graphical color blocks, shocking pink catsuit layered over with a sequined brief jacket in jigsaw puzzle pattern or a futuristic mini dress in metallic gold adorned with tubular piping on the neck, sleeves, hemline and on the empire waist.
Well, everyone has to come done from the ski slopes sometime, so Castelbajac created military-inspired trench coats adorned with steel grommets about half the size of golf balls. Military green blouson printed with the Castelbajac crest is layered over an olive-knitted vest and pencil slim trousers.
And of course, there were the usual references to cartoons and famous people, this time it was Sylvester, the cat.
New this season and the one true surprise is that the Paris-based designer also launched his children’s line! Echoing the same silhouettes of the adults, the children’s collection is a successful translation of Castelbajac’s vision of rock & roll dressing.
