MILAN, Mar 7, 2002/ FWD/ --- Roberto Cavalli's jewel-encrusted, rock'n'roll vision of the
universe ramped up a few more notches this season, as Cindy Crawford hit the boards for the
designer in Milan Monday.
Antique pins, real or just printed, covered the chiffon and fine furs that were the key
fabrics in this show, the most opulent Cavalli has yet produced.
It is certainly '80s glamour, and why not, seeing as that was the era of Cindy's greatest
runway glory.
The collection itself contained an unusual melange of American exaggeration and French finery.
Think Elvis' daughter throwing a party in her new Loire Valley chateau after a youth spent
as an artist in the East Village.
"Sure, I am not 19 anymore. Now I have a two kids and I have other priorities," Crawford told
a gang of journalists who surrounded her post-show.
The Cavalli gal for fall is a free spirit who dons eskimo parkas in exotic fur, immaculately
cut patent leather tailleurs and python redingotes.
She ain't cheap to maintain, and is proud of the fact. And rightly so.
