MILAN, Feb 28, 2004/ FW/ – A never ending runway, two giant obelisk’s held up by heavy elephants and a large king size four poster bed, this is Cavalli’s ancient Venice painted in black and gold, the divine seeping from every pore.
His jet setting elites are dressed in feathers and fur, leather pants and velvet boots.
Take a little from the nostalgic turn of the century, 1970’s glamour and mix it together in an opium induced dream, the morning after waking up reveals Roberto Cavalli’s 2004/05 fall winter collection.
Soft unfinished edges give an idea of freedom as he uses the softest and most elegant of fabrics, for the reinvented and restyled woman of today where money and exclusivity are priorities on her wish list.
Gypsy wandering bohemian chic, she wears layers and prints in a mix of cultural dilettantism.
Little jackets are detailed with beads and embroidery while ruffles at the back are reminiscent of turn of the century feminine attention to volume and grandness, as is his regal colour palette of golden yellows and rich purples.
Evenings are slinky, sexy and soft, full length and floor sweeping dresses enriched with circular cut outs later accentuated through sparkling crystal beading.
Electronic and eclectic, a dream world of precise temptations with elements taken from decisive fashion decades and reinvented successfully for the ultimate wish list of any eccentric female, but keep in mind that there is a little eccentricity in us all.
