MILAN, Feb 25, 2005/ FW/ --- Roberto Cavalli always gives a dynamic show, which is a treat each season to watch and review. With Isabella Blow present, the show was destined to be one of Cavalli’s best collections.
As the background setting was filled with Shakespearean period paintings along with a wall full of fine China, the show popped off with high impact music and demanding fierce black outfits.
One of Cavalli’s signature points within all of his collections are his use of animal prints and furs. Gowns captured the essence of a true show with a mix of leather bodices trimmed in feathers and elaborate furs.
His colour palette was all over the place, as usual, but the midnight blue in cashmere velvet was one of the colours that stood out the most. This fine hue of blue made long skirts gives the illusion of mystic and luxurious. A particular mini dress with a jeweled front was marvelous in the colour of the moment.
Gold corsets peeped underneath gowns along with more elaborate floor length leopard gowns styled with more fox trim.
Double teams of models sported some of his daytime professional wear. Very tailored pencil skirt suits were in black and grey. Elongated leather clutch purses had fur tails and more fur trimming.
A dynamic duo of models sported black silhouettes with one in a tuxedo and the other in a very sexy black frock.
Metallic gold, light green gowns dynamically enlightened the show with shell pleats giving homage to a 70’s disco. These gorgeous gowns were styled with purple, orange and blue suede knee boots. It was a sensational combination of soft fabric and exhausting colour.
As Gemma Ward finished the show in a viscous white gown, it keeps me waiting for the beginning of next season’s collection.
