MILAN, Jan 18, 2005/ FW/ --- After the Sunday night opening of the new Just Cavalli boutique and bar in the luxurious Via della Spiga here in Milano, Mr Cavalli must be a tired lad, and no doubt that tonight there will be no sleep, so like they say, there’s no rest for the wicked.
A giant library equipped with deer head, leather armchairs, zebra rugs and tea time nibbles in an extract from Little Lord Fauntleroy, without the innocence, set the scene for the impressive and ever so eccentric Roberto Cavalli autumn winter 2005/06 show.
Laden with fur, excessive and the luxurious, from crocodile and python to beaver and ox teeth charms, Cavalli men this season are Aristocrats out for the kill. Be it women, cities or animals, these mysteriously charming night hunters will fascinate even the toughest critic.
Leading a double life they wear personalized denim full of studs, velvet and patchwork, mixing to create a new elegance without forgetting age-old blue blood traditions.
Strong willed and sleek, the man who chooses to wear Cavalli remises the seventies by taking gorgeous excess and transforming it into essential detail and becoming ‘sexy and dangerous’.
Mysterious and dark in a color palette unusually sober for the king of excessive. But Roberto Cavalli manages to give just the right amount of bold hints through rich velvet and patent shine, mixing the opaque with sparkle.
A slender silhouette invites the eye to follow the male body and rover the new Casanova of the 21st century, whether he is dressed in wild accessories or a classical three-buttoned suit.
This collection is undoubtedly bound to fill the shelves of stores for the up coming winter, but barely have time to collect dust before being swiped up by the trendy and design conscious jet setting contemporary gypsies.
