MILAN, Dec 24, 2003/ FW/ – Rhinestone cowgirls and a modern day Texas princess are what the Roberto Cavalli woman expects to be come springtime - a figure hugging, curve enhancing, sexy free spirited woman that is extravagant and guaranteed to turn heads.
Complete with feather inspired prints, decorative stitching on leathers, chaps, sparkling excess and fringing, Roberto Cavalli’s modern day Texas princess is strong willed and full of charisma.
Her wardrobe is made up of tight leather or denim pants; a leather strap swimsuit and big white feather jacket thrown over the top nonchalantly, Saloon girl lingerie lace bodices, ruffles and splits to boot.
High class and shiny, strappy heels are a necessity. Layers flow freely in an attempt to perhaps become a little more sophisticated, and while this has never been a priority of Cavalli there was Las Vegas excess and wannabe star all over it.
A palette of earth tones and colour so as to be noticed in the desert, and then there are the cut out, strung together, skin revealing dresses and mini’s that are sure to stop Clint Eastwood dead in his tracks and bring the ranch hands to heel.
Presented last October in Milan, Roberto Cavalli’s show also gave a tribute to Cher, who by the way was not actually at the show, but in minor compensation there was the not unexpected presence of Beyoncé who this week was the number one VIP lighting up front rows of Milan fashion week.
A five-minute slide show depicted some of the most memorable moments from the 1970’s singer-actress’s career before the Cavalli jet setting ranch girls strode down the runway.
