MILAN, Sep 26, 2005/ FW/ --- Take me back to Paradise City where the grass is green and the girls are pretty.... like words from a rock song, Roberto Cavalli for the diffusion line Just Cavalli deals with ‘love’.
Coloured cocktails and dreams, its all about where psychedelic flouro become the new bold detail, white the staple and contrasting hemlines from ultra mini (22cm for the skirt, 18cm for the hotpants) to floor length dresses define a new silhouette.
Just Cavalli is a journey from vivid acid memories to modern day beach desire. Bikinis are metallic silver or gold especially for the Mexican Caribbean where Mayan ruins and jungles meet the waters edge creating a synergy between man and nature.
A beach party or a new breed of sun drenched survivors? It doesn’t really matter; anything goes but only as long as you are wearing something rather floaty, a cropped jacket and high platforms.
Cavalli takes from the seventies for colour and cut and mixes a dash of eighties frill and volume and adds almost Victorian like details such as sleeves and bows. In this ‘Just Love’ fusion there is also space for lacing and eyelets, patchwork and prints.
Snapshots are part of the journey with Roberto Cavalli’s own images appearing on tops in a new trademark that goes beyond the usual logo.
Shine comes from studs on denim and a plastic coated trench, while plexiglass pendants are the new form of accessory from rap to rock.
As colourful and theatrical as ever, the Just Cavalli 2006 woman will put the sizzle back into summer from kaftan to party dress. It’s a shame simply that the show was over an hour late….and unofficially this is day one!
