Celine: From Children To Adults

Founded in 1947 as a children's shoe store, it expanded its product lines to leather goods
and accessories during the 1950s. During the 1960s, Celine started offering a women's ready-to-wear
and experienced worldwide expansion by establishing retail stores around the world
during the 1970s.
Today, its product lines include men's and women's ready-to-wear, accessories
and fragrance. It's first fragrance was Magic which was launched in 1996.
As the fashion world became smaller with mergers and acquisitions, Celine was eventually bought
by LVMH and became part of its group of luxury good companies.
Michael Kors was hired as its Chief Designer in 1997 and then promoted to Creative Director
in 1999. He would stay with Celine until 2004. Michael Kors final collection for Celine
was shown during the Fall 2004 Paris season in March 2004
In July 2000, Celine opened a 2400 sq. ft. store at Madison Avenue.
Roberto Mennichetti debuted as Creative Director of Celine during Spring 2005 Paris season. He stayed for only two seasons.
Ivana Omazic took the creative helm at Celine after Mennichetti. She debuted during the Spring 2006 season.
