Celine PARIS, May 6, 2007/ FW/ --- Signing her fourth collection for Celine last March, Ivana Omazic did not go far for inspiration choosing the city of Paris itself as her muse.

But, instead of going with the traditional definition of Parisian chic, Omazic added an avant-garde element by using texture and color, thus making the collection edgy, though it retained the quintessential Parisian elegance.

Coats were given a fuller skirt, but slashed at the sleeves, then cinched at the waist by a combo of two belts, one as wide as an obi, the other thin. A crocodile skin suit dress became a degradé of brown to coffee to brown while a smock coat was created in mesh fabric lined with beige.

Ozamic’s message for the season – wear belts! Almost every outfit has a matching belt, including a trench coat in a metallic shade of beige. And, if there are no belts, then a two-tone sash is used.

The windbreaker was reworked, making it more like a jacket that can be worn with a pencil skirt. It’s great for those rainy Paris days, because as we all know, it always rains in Paris.

Trousers are generously cut but retained a very slim silhouette, making the illusion that those long legs just go on forever. Teamed with a snug-fitting leather jacket, it has that naughty element in it, but again retaining the elegance, that French high society expects from its ladies.

With this collection, Ozamic hit the right note. The existing Celine clientele will be happy while attracting new ones.
