PARIS, Mar 11, 2003/ FW/ --- As Paris Fashion Week winded down today with the last two big names -
Louis Feraud and Romeo Gigli on the roster, Collette Dinnigan's afternoon show at the Louvre was 'the most
important show of the day' among the emerging designers, according to a veteran fashion photographer.
And he was right!
With songstress Danni Minogue at the front row, the New Zealand-born designer sent out a charming Fall
2003 collection which reminded the audience why Nicole Kidman is one of Collette Dinnigan's
clients.
Emphasizing the waist this season, Collette Dinnigan updated the obi and made it into a
contemporary belt.
Using old fashioned lace in most of the pieces, the collection gave a 'ole fashioned' charm
which was very reminiscent of the 1950s.
But instead of looking passé, they looked cute and coquettish.
The designer also sent out her signature look - long satin columns with plunge fronts,
bare backs and crystal beading perfect for the red carpet.
The jewelry of choice were South Sea pearls and nacre plus semi-precious stones,
re-enforcing the 1950s feel of the collection.
As the music died down and the designer took her bow, you start thinking of getting
some of the pieces when they become available this fall.
