Paris, Oct 12, 2001/ FWD/ --- After the grueling schedule fashion editors and buyers have kept
over the past weeks, it was a relief to head into Collette Dinnigan's flower filled, candle
scented, soothing presentation this afternoon in Paris.
"The collection is ethereal, cheeky; it has a naughty feeling," Dinnigan said. "It's for girls
who are dressing for themselves and having fun with it. Spring 2002 is delicate and pretty but
with a mystical and introspective feel."
As usual the pieces were ultra-feminine: white silk slip dresses were decorated with black floral
embroidery, lace bed jackets in ivory and coffee had wide embroidered borders. Tiny polka dot
camisoles were trimmed with fine lace. A bodice in cream and black was elaborately embroidered
around the neck, with sexy hook and eye fastenings up the back.
This season, hemlines have risen, delicately sequined one-shoulder dresses fall mid-thigh, and
shorter hems are ruffled, gathered, feathered and netted.
A fantastic piece was a knee-length nude chiffon dress with a large silver sequined butterfly
paired with glitzy high strappy sandals. You can imagine the Dinnigan woman emerging from a
warm bath, spritzing on some scent and slipping into the dress ready to be wooed and romanced
the old fashioned way.
