PARIS, Oct 12, 2003/ FW/ --- New Zealand-born designer Collette Dinnigan found herself sandwiched between two fashion powerhouses – Valentino and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, yet she was able to hold her own.
The Salle Gabriel venue at Le Carrousel du Louvre did not have any empty seats while the standing room area had more than its fair share. And more important, Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune, sat in the front row, busy taking notes during the show.
This season, Collette Dinnigan sent her signature feminine and wispy dresses on the runway.
Cocktail gowns and dresses, either floor length or minis were encrusted with Swarovski crystals, giving a nod to the glittery trend of the season.
Perhaps, she took some inspiration from the Maoris of her native New Zealand, and created belts and neckpieces based on the aboriginal design using Swarovski crystals instead of beads.
Incorporating the pieces in the design of the garments and with masterful draping, Dinnigan came out with contemporary and elegant gowns and dresses worthy of her Hollywood clients which include Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Naomi Watts, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron.
Collette Dinnigan, who has been branded as ‘A Name To Watch’ during the past season, has finally arrived!
