PARIS, Feb 28, 2006/ FW/ --- Ennio Capasa has never shied away from using black on the runway, and for Fall 2006, his message is clear, black is the new black and it is as covetable as ever.
From trench to fur coats, from wide legged pants to svelte minis, it’s all about the sophistication of this non-color that truth be told, has been the staple this season beginning with the menswear season.
And for Capasa, though the silhouettes have remained slim, he chose to cut the trousers wide, creating a more relaxed fit by adding pleats in front. He even cut some of the day jackets a little looser, but added embedded string belts that can be cinched so as to create a small sheered effect.
Still, he did not forget what his clients have always expected from Costume National. There are still cute tailored jackets that follow the curves of the body. And of course, the cute mini skirts that featured a bustier-like bodice.
As always, architectural lines in detailed jackets maintained taut bodices and the emphasis remained on the upper body with the 3-D pleated bustiers.
Gold and metallic olive green were the only splashes of color. Otherwise, it’s sophisticated and dark winter for the Costume National ladies.
