MILAN, Jun 28, 2004/ FW/ – Freedom is life, and Ennio Capasa (photo at left) praises
it at the roots by opening his men’s collection yesterday here in Milan with a glowing pregnant bride in all her gorgeousness.
The style woven streamlined customized collection of Costume National today officially opened what will be a five day calendar of the most important Spring/Summer 2005 menswear collections here in Milan. Known for its importance in the rag trade, the city is buzzing with beautiful ragged haired slim boys as sizzling summer temperatures refuse to go below 30 something degrees.
But heat does not deter fashion and its followers, and like always Costume National was capacity filled as Capasa mixed together a ‘Tribal Army’. In a search for new freedom he continues to demonstrate his tailoring skills and contemporary love for life.
Military meets ethnic, as the Costume National man dresses in a toned down colour palette of army greens, blacks, ash and mud rather than a rainbow of brightness. He is rather an contemplative poet living in urban spaces as he dresses in pilot inspired jumpsuits made of the softest and thinnest leathers, cavalry inspired trousers and slimly tailored jackets that fit his torso to perfection.
He casually layers tribal detailed shirts with snug T’s and tanks, enriching everything with natural accessories from shells to seeds, hats and mirrored sunglasses.
Capasa has always shone when it comes to attention to detail. Tops are slashed resembling breast plates of desert warriors, sleeves and trousers are detailed with harnesses and strings, all the while dancing in lightness through choice fabric selection and modern technology.
As the state of world affairs seems to be a continually spiraling out of control, Costume National takes his man back to simple reflection while all the same equipping him with tools for everyday survival.
