PARIS, Oct 7, 2003/ FW/ --- With Didier Grumbach, President of the la Chambre Syndicale de
la Couture Parisienne, France’s governing body for fashion, sitting at the front row, and
a room filled to capacity, including the standing room only area, Dice Kayek presented delectable clothes and looks this season.
Entitled “ La Lumiere,” the collection highlighted the designer’s strength – creating architectural clothes with flowing and airy looks.
With a lone drummer playing a tune with an ethnic beat providing the background music,
the first model walked in wearing an all white ensemble – white low-rise trousers matched with long sleeved jackets.
What followed was a series of white summer garments – pleated above the knee skirts, wide-legged cargo pants, pedal pushers and Capri pants.
Matched with tailored jackets or soft, free flowing blouses, the look presented was very young and fresh.
Appliqués created with Swarovki crystals were the only adornments on the garments.
Appearing on belts and on the clothes themselves, the floral appliqués were reminiscent of the flower power movement of the 1960s.
But instead of looking passé or dated, the Swarovski crystals gave it a contemporary look --- definitely a stroke of genius by the designer.
The models sported ‘out of the shower’ or ‘out of the water’ hair. They could have either just literally walked out of a shower and put on some clothes, or just came from the beach for a cooling dip.
No matter what the reason is, the models looked ‘refreshed,’ with a carefree attitude. It is summer after all.
When Dice Kayek came out to take her bow, the audience gave her a big round of applause, nodding their approval for this very strong collection.
