PARIS, Oct 9,2004/ FW/ --- Dice Kayek showed an elegant and well pieced together collection in Soufflot at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
She began with a short ensemble with long sleeves with a slight puff to them. The puff element is just one of the three major codes for this collection. The other two codes, semi off-the-shoulder necklines and bows, were quick to make their presence known.
The fashion house’s one-piece swimwear is colourful and fun.
A stricter look came about in the denim outfit. The skirt is below the knee, and the pink button down shirt has French cuffs. The black pant ensemble is composed with a shirt-like jacket. It has an additional flap, which springs forth from the shoulders and runs down to the waist. It is literally decorated in buttons.
The grey skirt ensemble is one of my favourite looks from the collection. Its skirt has a slit that runs up the middle. It reveals just enough flesh without going to far.
Another centimetre or two and the feeling it creates would have been ruined. Its large bow belt is ornamented with what looks to be a large sunflower. The top has long sleeves and pleats. Its back shoulder panels are done in a translucent grey fabric.
Dice Kayek is well known for its exquisite cuts as evidenced in its cape coat with long sleeves. Although the skirts and dresses were crafted with great skill, the designer’s talent was really best showcased in its other coat. One was in a printed satin fabric. It unifies all three of the above-mentioned codes used in the collection. And the little bolero jacket with long sleeves done in the same fabric is something else. It is cut to just below the shoulder blades.
