PARIS, Mar 2, 2004/ FW/ --- With a soundtrack that announced "Escape from your life," Dice Kayek sent a 1960s inspired, Jackie Kennedyish collection that will surely delight junior leaguers across the US come fall.
Eight-button double-breasted jackets, skirts in box pleats, Cracker Jack pants, Capri-length trousers, and pleated skirts that our mothers used to wear --- all are reminiscent of an innocent time full of hopes.
The collection didn’t look jaded though. Rather, it brought those Camelot years back.
The silhouette has been modernized; the fit was made more contemporary and Dice Kayek whose target market appears to be Main Street U.S.A. this season got the look down pat.
The soundtrack was in English, the accent was definitely American, so it will be safe to assume that young designer's is wooing the 24 to 34 age group, junior leaguers in Anytown, Anystate, U.S.A.
The look is modern, yet conservative enough for the country club denizens.
There is sweetness with ruffles and ruching. Even the use of old rose has been thought of --- enough color to be noticed, but not too bright to be distracted.
If Dice Kayek can get the U.S. boutiques to carry her line, she will get a hit this season.
