PARIS, Apr 21, 2003/ FW/ --- The Magazine of Le Figaro, one of France's most prominent newspapers, published a 30 page special on Hedi Slimane and his revolutionary approach towards men's wear in its Easter weekend edition.

Not only did editors interview the designer, but they also allowed him free rein in creating the layout of the pages that followed.

From rare archival photos of fittings in the Dior atelier, to pictures of contemporary art and even handpicked models dressed and posed, the resulting effect was a glimpse into the private world of the mysterious and elusive Hedi Slimane.

As part of the feature, Karl Lagerfeld contributed an essay entitled the "New Allure of Men".

In analyzing the style of the Dior Homme designer, Lagerfeld remarks that "one of the successes of Hedi Slimane is his ability to capture the state of spirit in the air of time, and to give that allure to the men he dresses."

In cerebral manner, Lagerfeld goes on to point out Hedi's ability to study today's youth and to translate their movement and style into clothing.

Allure, he claims, has less to do with youth and beauty than an intuitive and emotional quality, which is bound to a certain fragility.

If women have already been liberated from the codes of tradition, then it is the turn of men, and the new masculine allure that is reflected in the collections for Dior Homme is the key to the astonishing success of the label.

According to Lagerfeld, Hedi (whose name means "wisdom" in Arabic) has the capacity to decrypt our era and translate it into fashion, like a sixth sense.

Karl Lagerfeld has long been a fan of Dior Homme, even losing more than a third of his body weight in order to fit into Hedi's first collection. He is seldom seen in public without a Dior Homme jacket or redingote, and is himself, a fashion icon. His collections for Chanel, Fendi and Lagerfeld Gallery continue to drawn universal praise from the world's fashion editors.
